EquaCor Plastics and Packaging was formed in 2005, by Kelee Fourkiller-Wright and her husband, Kirk Wright. Kelee and Kirk had long agreed that they wanted to own their own company and thus laid down their former careers in education and technology sales to pursue a life as small business owners.

Originally packaging was the main focus of EquaCor, specifically stretch film and corrugated boxes, but it soon became apparent that custom poly bags and films were going to be the mainstay for the company. Within the first few months of business EquaCor was earning a profit in custom poly, gradually increasing the customer base and slowly building inventory and experience.

In 2006, EquaCor began considering expanding into new markets. With the contacts developed with the poly suppliers, EquaCor now had enough expertise to effectively market trash liners. While somewhat unconventional to market only trash liners, it was exactly what was needed for a small vendor to be able to do business with a larger entity, as well as a first step into becoming a full janitorial supplier. Two years later, EquaCor secured a substantial bid for the trash liners for a large operation and all of its locations. This was a pivotal moment for the company and catalyst for what would become exponential growth.

Today EquaCor is still a “mom and pop”, and is currently in the process of hiring additional sales and warehouse personnel. From 2006, to the present, EquaCor has realized double digit growth each year, increasing revenue by as much as 50% annually. EquaCor still supplies custom poly for a variety of industrial and service applications as well as packaging supplies. However, what was once the sole focus, now only accounts for approximately 60% of the revenue. EquaCor now offers a full line of janitorial supplies for commercial usage and is broadening the customer base every day.

EquaCor a Native American, Woman Owned Company was the recipient of the 2008 Cherokee Nation TERO Woman Owned Business of the Year. This award is attributed to the superior customer service and attention to detail that has become synonymous with this small, but growing family company.
